Guards of Metropolis on Myspace
We've finally decided to join Rupert Murdoch's minions and stick our faces on Myspace. Why? Because it's a quick and easy way to respond to fans and keep in touch with people we've met. It also features lots and lots of people who apparently have difficulty spelling and putting on clothing, just like in real life! See you there!
Stacey from Connecticut has made a nice little web page about us. Drop by and send her an email if you are so inclined... she's very nice!
OUR FRIENDS:
The Norwegian noisemeisters piloted by our close friend and fellow pirate Emil Nikolaisen. Check these guys out! Spin Magazine and the folks at Pitchfork media can't say enough about them and neither can we.
Recent co-conspirator and all around good guy who just happens to be a legend and a neighbor. Check out his new record Fastman / Raiderman to hear what songs should sound like. His last band, Pixies, were pretty good too...if you're into genius and stuff.
A local legend in Salem, Oregon, Charles Normal thinks this guy should be nationwide. Stan cranks out songs at a mile a minute and all of them would be hit singles in a better world. Check out his "Have You Found Your Yoko Yet" for an example of his ability as a popcraft master. Really. Do yourself a favor. Last seen working on his Stanthology compilation. He also gets extra bonus points for calling himself "Stantana" and "Col. Standers." We just call him "Stan The McMan"
This is what music might have sounded like if the guys in Devo were born on the Mississippi Delta back in the 1920s. The drummer plays a kit made of plastic buckets and pie tins or something.
Joe Sib and Bill Armstrong have helped out the Guards of Metropolis immensely. They also happen to run one of the world's coolest record companies that puts out records by Flogging Molly, Gogol Bordello, and The Casualties. Joe also hosts his own radio show Complete Control which is well worth listening to if it's syndicated on a station near you.
OUR FAVORITE WASTES OF TIME:
Jason and Charles spend almost every waking hour clicking through this maze of useless and incredible information. It's easy to spend hours here. Check out "How much is inside" and then check out everything else.
Mojave Phone Booth
The Greatest Story Ever Told. A guy turns a broken down phone booth into an international cult icon and center of attention.
Rock School
If you're in a band you'll laugh until you cry. And then you'll just cry.
